Explore the World with DHN
Our department offers students the chance to expand their education through faculty-led trips abroad to Greece, Costa Rica, Italy and Portugal. Most DHN study tours last 2-3 weeks, allowing students to fully immerse themselves in different cultures while exploring food behaviors and health practices. Studying abroad offers the unique opportunity to gain a global perspective, enhance cross-cultural understanding, and develop valuable skills for personal and professional growth.

Portugal
May 2026
This education and discovery program explores the impact of place-based factors on self-care and wellness. Students will learn that health in Portugal encompasses an entire lifestyle, not just diet. Students will actively participate in tours, cooking classes, cultural practices, and guided experiences that will allow them to identify the impact that policy, systems, and environment have on health and wellbeing.
Greece
May 2026
Join DHN for a summer of study and adventure throughout ancient and modern Greece. Learn about traditional Mediterranean foods and their impact on human health as you explore everything this beautiful country has to offer.
Italy
May 2027
Learn about the relationship between food, mindfulness and balance that is found naturally around The Italian Table. With an emphasis on quality time, local foods and sustainable methods, we will explore the various regions, cuisines and habits of Italy all while enjoying delicious foods and gorgeous settings.
